Updates

Lots of exciting things are happening at Wisdomap HQ!

We are currently developing project management functionality which we will offer through site licences for small and medium sized businesses. Wisdomap will help organisations develop ideas and manage projects visually.

We are also working on customised versions of Wisdomap for legal and medical education. These will allow legal and medical students to use Wisdomap to organise and memorise complex information like diseases and legal cases!

We are also busy improving the Wisdomap core to make it faster and more efficient. Keep an eye on the blog for the next couple of months for updates.

Real-time collaboration

Real-time collaboration is finally here! Premium users can now invite anyone by email to collaborate with them in real time on a map. The map updates automatically as anyone involved in the collaboration adds, edits or removes nodes, or edits the media or notes attached to nodes. Nodes are locked while a person is editing them to prevent confusion.

To activate collaboration on a map, simply click the collaborate button in the bottom toolbar and invite others to join via email. As ever, we welcome any feedback and ideas for new features.

Colour in notes

We like to think Wisdomap is already pretty colourful, as software goes.

But we are pleased to launch a new feature today: the ability to selectively colour parts of the notes attached to the nodes on your mind maps.

It's very intuitive to use - simply select the text you want coloured, and then click the new colour palette button to reveal a range of different colours.

We hope this helps you keep your notes vibrant and readable!

Wisdomap at Venturefest!

We are very pleased to announce that Wisdomap has been selected to attend Venturefest 2010, an exhibition which showcases inspiring science, technology and knowledge entrepreneurs. More information can found at www.venturefestyorkshire.net.

If you are attending make sure you visit our stand - we'd love to have a chat and may well be demoing some cool new features.

Improved right hand column

We are pleased to announce some useful changes to the right-hand column. You can now embolden, italicize and underline words in the notes section and also create bullet-point lists.

The right-hand column is also now expandable to three widths to maximize the impact of media files and notes to your maps - simply use the arrow icon half way down the column border to toggle between the three widths.

As always, we welcome all feedback on these changes and ideas for future features.

Presentation mode

Are you tired of sitting through monotonous Powerpoint presentations? Today we are excited to launch a new and unique premium account feature where mind maps can be used as presentations.

You simply select the order in which the map should unfold, and then use the space key to advance your presentation, revealing nodes and their associated media/notes sequentially. This is a colourful and engaging way to present and structure information and media files.

As ever, we welcome all feedback on current features or future ideas.

Wisdomap partners with tutor2u

We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with tutor2u, the UK's leading provider of rapid revision e-learning content and teaching resources, to launch tutor2u-Wisdomap, mind mapping software designed specifically for education.

The Wisdomap student and teacher accounts will now be offered through tutor2u-Wisdomap, and will include all of our innovative educational features, with many more exciting developments to come. This will allow us to focus our educational energies there, while refocussing the core Wisdomap application towards broader commercial uses.

New map style

We are pleased to announce the introduction of a new visual style for Wisdomap mind maps. Existing and new maps will still use our unique physics-based algorithm by default, which we've called Wisdomap Organic for the beautiful, organic looking maps it creates.

But if you prefer a more conventional looking mind map you can now use the new Wisdomap Classic algorithm, in which nodes branch out horizontally connected by elegant curved lines. The nodes, of course, are still colourful, bold and readable.

As ever, Wisdomap is in active development and we welcome all feedback on any changes we introduce and ideas for future features.

Download maps as JPG

By popular request, mind maps can now be downloaded in JPG format as well as in PNG and PDF format.

12 Feb 09

Multi line nodes

As of today, longer nodes in mind maps will break into two or more lines.

This improves readability of the nodes and map as a whole, makes the maps appear more natural, and allows the nodes to be closer together, so that the whole map can be viewed in a smaller window or screen.
